Our Sunday Service
We are a casual, come-as-you-are church, welcoming everyone to our services. We currently have both in-person and online options for attending.
Our Sunday services include music, singing, scriptural readings, prayer, and a sermon. The sermon is based on a weekly Bible lesson from our Pastor - the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by the discoverer of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy.
As a church of lay people, we elect two individuals from our membership to conduct the service.
At the same time as church, we conduct Sunday School classes for children up to the age of 20. We also have childcare for those too young for Sunday School.
After the service everyone is invited for fellowship in the Sunday School/Fellowship room for refreshments.
Online Spanish services are available on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. Click below.
Our Wednesday Testimony Meeting
The Wednesday evening meeting is an encouraging message to the world that spiritual transformation and Christian healing are alive and well. It’s also a supportive meeting for those attending to hear remarks of gratitude and spiritual inspiration as well as accounts of Christian healing by fellow members and attendees.
During the meeting we hear readings from the Bible and Science and Health that address current world and community issues. Everyone attending in person or remotely is invited to share how they have been blessed by the teachings of Christian Science.
Childcare is available for children too young to attend the Wednesday meetings.
Meet our Readers
Our church services are conducted by church members elected by the membership to a three-year term. Our current readers are serving from Sunday, September 6, 2026 through August 31, 2029.
A little bit about them:
Alice Dyer - First Reader
Alice is a third generation Christian Scientist, growing up attending her local Christian Science Sunday School in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, which formed the foundation for her whole life.
When her Father was transferred to Dallas after she graduated from college, she too made the move where she met her husband. Dallas was the place to be for a fashion degree graduate! Her career has been varied--working within the corporate structure and on the outside as freelance designer/patternmaker while raising their son. Alice has held many positions within the church including 2nd Reader.
In her spare time she enjoys many hobbies which include but are not limited to: gardening, cooking, baking, knitting, sewing, silversmithing, leather making, home improvement, and furniture restoration.
Xan Koonce - Second Reader
Xan Koonce is a Dallas-based artist who creates large abstract paintings in multiple mediums. Koonce worked at Southwestern University in the Office of University Relations for more than 30 years. She retired as the Associate Director of University Events in 2021 to pursue a full time career as an artist.
Koonce graduated magna cum laude in 2005 from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas with a BA in Studio Art and a minor in Art History. Over the last two decades, Koonce’s work has been represented by respected galleries—including Cerulean Gallery, Laura Rathe Fine Arts, and Mary Tomas Gallery—resulting in more than 40 solo and group exhibitions. Her current work can be viewed at Cerulean Gallery in Snider Plaza, Dallas, Texas.
Beyond the studio, Koonce is also an Airbnb host, welcoming guests to her 1883 historical property in the historic downtown district of McKinney, Texas. She enjoys serving her church, spending time with her twin grandchildren, and traveling—experiences that continue to enrich the perspective and inspiration she brings to her art.
“I always get new ideas and healing thoughts from the church services here. I especially like hearing at our Wednesday meetings how others are applying what they’re learning in Christian Science.”
“I like having time to think deeply about spiritual ideas and what they mean to me.”
